The Ministry of Economy started implementing the green economy concept, which will result in the growth of social wellbeing and human capital, considerably reducing the environmental risks and problems with a view to achieve sustainable development and poverty elimination. The green economy represents an economic environment with less harmful effects on the environment and substantial benefits for the society as a whole and for each individual.
To this end, the Ministry of Economy joined international programs and platforms of green economy, such as the “Greening Economies in the Eastern Neighborhood”, EaP Green Programme”, Green Industry Platform, etc.
EaP GREEN is a regional program that is being implemented to assist the countries of the European Union’s Eastern Partnership (EaP) in their transition to the green economy. The program responds to the commitments assumed by the Eastern Partnership countries, including our country at international forums: the Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw; the seventh “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference and the UN Conference on Sustainable Development “Rio +20”. Within the EaP GREEN Program, it is envisaged to support national policies and implement pilot projects to demonstrate the efficiency of EaP GREEN.
This program is supported by the European Commission and other donors. There are four international organizations that will work together to provide full support in achieving the goal of the program: the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the United Nations Environment Program and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
